In 1982, designer Charles Pollock created a true design classic in Penelope. Art lovers have probably pricked up their ears at the name: Pollock is a brother of the painter Jackson Pollock. The American created a revolutionary, technical and formal design for castelli: A steelwire sled base supports a seat permeable to air consisting of steel netting coated with synthetic resin. The elastic effect of the base is enhanced by an integral polyurethane tube acting like a shock absorber. The covering of the armrests consisting of the same material provides additional comfort. With Penelope, Pollock translated this new seat shape into reality. That’s why this timeless classic still enjoys its exceptional position in today’s world of design.
